Barrie Newman – Smitten Magazine – Charleston Weddings

The new issue of Smitten is out and it is a site to behold Be sure to check it out HERE. We were honored to be invited to shoot the new space for Kristin Newman and Heather Barrie for Smitten Magazine. These two women, along with Mary Ruth and Reagan (and the rest of their team), are some of Charleston’s most creative and sought after wedding designers. Their work is amazing to see and even more amazing to photograph. They have joined forces to create Barrien Newman Collective. Congratulations to Kristin and Heather!

In Memory of Tracy Turpen – Charleston Wedding Photographer

The Charleston wedding community lost a wonderful and talented photographer, Tracy Turpen, this past weekend. Although I only met Tracy a few times, I was a fan of her work and appreciated her distinct style. You would know her images as soon as you saw them. Our hearts go out to her family during this difficult time. Thank you, Tracy, for being you and elevating Charleston photography. You will be missed!

Charleston wedding photography – The Connellys

In typical Charleston wedding fashion, the Fall was an extremely time for us. It’s a great time of year to get married and our Charleston brides took advantage of the great local weather. Being busy with weddings has us neglecting our little blog. We appreciate all the kind emails we have received about our new website and blog. We will be working diligently over the holidays to add additional content from all of the great weddings we covered this Fall. Here are just a few of the weddings we will be sharing with you.

Charleston wedding photographers – Photo Wall

While we are finishing up Jennifer & Grant’s wedding, we thought we would share a little video we put together from their Photo Wall we set-up at their reception. Jennifer added the chalk boards which was a nice touch. You can go HERE if you want to see a full screen version. Enjoy!

Jennifer & Grant were finally married yesterday at the Summerall Chapel with a reception that followed at Lowndes Grove. I have known Jennifer & Grant for 6 years and Jennifer was the one that referred us to shoot her sisters Charlotte wedding almost 2 years ago. We document Jennifer & Grants actual proposal, shot their engagement session, photographed her bridal session and finally captured their wedding. More to come.

Lowndes Grove wedding – The Connellys

We LOVE this shot, but I have to admit we almost didn’t capture it. This is a shot we have captured many times before. I think most photographers that have shot at Lowndes Grove have this shot in their portfolio. We had to remind ourselves it’s the first time this bride (Jennifer) had been on these stairs in a wedding dress. Just because we have had the opportunity to capture this before, we also owed it to Jennifer to photograph her descent down the stairs on her wedding day. That’s why she commissioned us to be her wedding photographers.

Rachelle and Matt tied the knot this past weekend with a ceremony at St. John the Baptist followed by a reception at the Mills House. We met Rachelle in downtown for her bridal session on the Charleston city streets. Check out this stunning bride!

Well…the wait is finally over. Welcome to our new website and blog and welcome to The Connellys!

Our goal with our new site was to add an expansive portfolio website while reducing the amount of scrolling required to view our images. We have accomplished this with a unique expansion box that opens to display the images. We have also chosen to display our images in collages rather than full size images. This allows us to show the greatest number of images in the least amount of space. We hope you will find our new site much easier to navigate than traditional photography blogs.

We worked closely with Hoppmann Creative to accomplish these goals while integrating our colors and brand, which was created by Stitch Design. We can not thank these creative professionals enough. Please let us know what you think of the new site and feel free to pass along any suggestions.

Every post needs an image so here is one from Sarah and Weston’s Dunes West wedding last Saturday. They had a full on cake fight. More images to come!
